Introduction

Hello Everyone👋, I am Shagun Mengi 2nd year Btech Computer Science Student. I'm interested in exploring different tech stacks, problem-solving as well as developing web apps. Currently working on DSA, Development and exploring other tech stacks.🛠️

🪜First step

It started just after my competitive exams got over and I decided to learn something completely new. I turned to the internet, knowing that it held a wealth of information waiting to be discovered🙌. It was during the online exploration that I stumbled upon Codecademy, an interactive platform renowned for its comprehensive programming courses. I chose to start with C++ and had some hands-on learning experience that enabled me to grasp the fundamentals including Pointers, OOPs and STL.🪛

🧩Surfing the Internet

To supplement my learning, I turned to YouTube tutorials to expand my knowledge.🎇I also explored other YouTube channels like Web Dev Simplified, CodingNepal, JavaScript Mastry and freeCodeCamp which helped me dive into web development. I followed CodeWithHarry's web development playlist, which provided a comprehensive overview of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other essential web technologies.✍️ To further enhance my skills, I enrolled in The Web Developer Bootcamp 2023 course by Colt Steele on Udemy. This course offered a structured curriculum, covering advanced topics and guiding me through the intricacies of web development🤜. Armed with this newfound knowledge, I began working on my mini-projects, ranging from simple websites to interactive web applications and by incorporating React into the projects, I gained a deeper understanding of component-based architecture and the advantages it brings.

🌟Into Opensource

I participated in Hacktoberfest, an annual event encouraging open-source contributions. I seized this opportunity to collaborate with other developers, contribute to meaningful projects, and improve my coding skills as well as received some of the cool swags.🎁 Additionally, I ventured into online hackathons, where I experienced the thrill of teamwork, innovation, and rapid problem-solving⚙️. Although our team didn't emerge victorious, the lessons learned were invaluable. I tried for Outreachy and was able to get selected after the initial application. Though I was not able to get selected after the contribution phase but there was always to learn from failures.🔥 However, finding a balance between academic responsibilities and tech pursuits proved to be a challenge. There were moments when I had to prioritize my college work, causing me to miss out on my daily tasks🪜.

⏳Addressing Challenges

As I immersed myself in learning, I unintentionally neglected my social profiles. While it's crucial to maintain an active presence and engage with the tech community online, I struggled to strike a balance between investing time in personal growth and nurturing my online presence🔖. Also, it was difficult for me to prioritize and allocate time efficiently, often resulting in missed tasks or a lack of progress⏱️. While it was tempting to take on numerous endeavors simultaneously, I soon discovered that dividing my attention often led to inefficiency and slower progress. I learned the importance of prioritization and focusing on one task at a time🎯.

➡️Next Steps

As I look ahead, I am eager to explore new frontiers, deepen my knowledge, and continue improving my skills.🏹 I plan to take on more challenging projects that push my boundaries and allow me to apply the skills I've acquired.✒️ Collaborating with fellow developers, participating in open-source projects, and seeking freelance opportunities will provide valuable exposure to real-world scenarios. I aim to contribute to the tech community by sharing my knowledge through blog posts, resource sharing, and mentoring opportunities.📑

I eagerly look forward to immersing myself in new concepts, embracing emerging technologies, and furthering my expertise. There is still so much more to explore, and I am excited to embark on this journey of lifelong learning.✌️
